4th – 09 November GenØk held in cooperation with TWN and UFSC a regional biosafety course in Florianópolis, Brazil. The course was successful and below you can see a picture of the participants, presenters and contributors to the course.

The course was designed to provide policy makers, regulators, scientists and NGOs/civil society leaders, (specifically from developing countries) with the necessary balanced and critical knowledge and training in crucial GE/GMO issues. Through lectures, laboratory demonstrations, group work on case studies, and discussions, we offered biosafety capacity building within a holistic framework.

125 from 32 different countries aplied for the course, and approx 40 got a founded place at the course.

The course was funded by grants from NORAD.

The next regional biosafety course will be in 2014 in Moldova.
