Vacancy: Researcher in RRI/STS/ethics/philosophy

GenØk – Centre for Biosafety has a vacant 2-year researcher position within the research group Roots
(Responsible and sustainable biotechnosciences).

About the position

The researcher will work in two projects:

  • Sustainable and ethical aspects by the use of GMOs. The aim of this project is to examine how contribution to sustainability and ethical aspects can be assessed in actual cases of use and release of GMOs. This may include GM soy, genome-edited salmon and genedrives.
  • Responsible research and innovation (RRI) with the use of biotechnologies. The aim of this project is to engage with researchers and stakeholders in biotechnology project, and to compare different RRI approaches and practices in technology projects.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree within philosophy, sociology or STS. Applicants with a background from the natural sciences must document experience from working with RRI/STS.
  • Excellent skills in English. Good Scandinavian or German language skills would be an advantage.

Emphasis will be put on whether the applicant has worked with disciplines that deal with various aspects of technology development (RRI, ELSA, STS, TA), environmental ethics, bioethics or the like. It will also be an advantage if the applicant is up to date on developments within biotechnology. Furthermore, it will count positively whether the applicant has experience in interdisciplinary work.
