GenØk helps with advice / risk assessment for the Ministry of Environment and the Norwegian Environment Agency regarding the application process for GMOs and GMO products under the Norwegian Gene Technology Act, European Medicines Regulation and 2001/18EC and 1829/2003.

GenØk employees participate in national / international expert committees such as

• Linked to the Cartagena Protocol

• Vitenskapskomitèen for mattrygghet (GMO)

• The Norwegian Biotechnology Advisory Board

GenØk provides reports on behalf of the department, directorate and other agencies. In addition GenØk also publish reports on key aspects of the use of modern biotechnologies.
